Digital Media Association, (“DIMA”), and our partner, spark*advocacy, ( ”We” and “Us”)) process personal information through the ’Scrap the Streaming Tax’ Campaign (“Campaign”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it, starting by telling you about the processing of your personal information:  

  • What personal information do we collect and use through the Campaign and why? 
  • How do we keep it safe  and  how long do we keep it? 
  • What are your rights to it?

1.    What personal information do we collect and why?
On this website, we use Google Analytics which collects clicks, time on site, general location like your city, page view data and visit data such as device type, operating system, and browser type, etc. We use this information exclusively to promote the ideas and aims of the Canadian streaming tax campaign on various platforms.

When you sign a Campaign Form Letter, we collect your digital signature to the letter as well as  your postal code which is used to be able to forward it to elected and government officials and to your Member of Parliament (MP), on your behalf, which is the purpose of the Campaign. We do not collect personal information beyond what is required for the Campaign and we do not use it for any other purpose than those of the Campaign. 
When you communicate with us, we collect the personal information you choose to send us in order to respond.

2. How do we keep your personal information safe and for how long do we keep it?
For the purposes outlined above, we store the information you provide to us on secure servers located in Toronto, Canada, for only as long as is necessary for the Campaign. Of course, your signature to the Campaign Form Letter is transmitted to elected officials, government officials  and your MP on your behalf. They are all are responsible for how they process personal information they receive.

3.    Your rights to your personal information 
You have the right to request access to your personal information, to have it corrected if it is inaccurate and to have deleted if you withdraw consent or if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we collected it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact contact@dima.org.  We will respond within 30 days. If we cannot grant your request, for example because we do not have your personal information, we will provide reasons. When you request deletion of your signature on a Campaign Form Letter, we can only delete it on our system. You would have to contact your MP to have it deleted from their records as well.
